You can also view what he said in a recent post on his Instagram here.

(Since the auto translation originally said 'she' I corrected myself with 'he' and corrected the B to an H in his name. Japanese to English translation of the article):

Tsuruho apologized to his fans, saying, "I may have surprised my fans by restarting my activities without saying anything on February 4th. I'm sorry," and then spoke about his thoughts after resuming his activities. "It's been about a month since I resumed my activities, and I've had time to reflect on a lot of things. I'd like to thank the fans who have followed me, "There were people who were happy about my return, and there were also people who gave me harsh opinions. But it also made me realize from the bottom of my heart how blessed I was to be loved and happy during my time with the group," he continued, expressing his gratitude to the group he was once a part of."

"He revealed that for him, who had ended his activities with the group, the voices of his fans were the driving force behind his decision to resume his activities, writing, "The voices of my fans really supported me, and meeting the fans who shared their feelings with me at the talk and autograph session at the end of December gave me the energy to live and a glimpse into my future, and it made me want to continue performing on stage and singing. I am truly grateful."
He continued, "From now on, I'd like to take my time to reflect on myself and continue my activities as the artist 'BONBON.' I appreciate your continued support."

Hello, this is Tsurubo Shion.

I'm sorry that I surprised my fans by resuming my activities on February 4th without any prior notice.
It's been about a month since we resumed activities, and I've had time to reflect on many things.
There were fans who followed me, people who were happy for my return, and people who gave me harsh criticism. It all made me realize from the bottom of my heart how blessed I was to be loved and happy during my time as a group member. The fact that I'm able to work alone now is all thanks to my time with JO1. I'm truly grateful to the staff, members, and fans. Thank you.

I went on hiatus from June of last year and finished group activities in December, which gave me more time to think alone and reflect on myself. Of course, I considered ending my activities and not pursuing solo activities, but the voices of my fans really supported me, and meeting them at the talk and autograph session at the end of December, where they shared their feelings with me, gave me the energy to live and gave me a glimpse into my future, and made me want to continue performing on stage and singing. I am truly grateful. From now on, I will continue to work as an artist called "BONBON.", taking my time to talk to myself. I look forward to your continued support."

While I may not know everything about JO1 and barely remember that Asian Boss Interview they did a decent time ago now, I still actively look at their youtube channel and listen to their music every now and then, so it wasn't to long ago I learned he left the group.

While I may not agree with gambling and can have my own thoughts about it I can admire Shion for his honesty and still choosing to be kind and grateful to both his members, the fans and the staff. I think that's very admirable that he handle it well. I hope he can move forward on a positive path from now on.
