Question about posts (Authors, Administrators, etc.)

Hello there-
I am just curious, how does a post submitted for review go from "Pending" to "Published"?
Like, what needs to happen for it to do that?

An editor reads over it to make sure it has no errors or things that need to be added and then they publish it.
Sometimes it just takes a bit of time.
