Do you think rap position is necessary in every K-Pop group? And why or why not?

i think it depends on a groups concept because if the concept is cute i don't think they need it but if the concept is like gidle then maybe

Definitely not. In some groups raps just aren’t needed and you don’t even realise when they don’t have them. GFRIEND never needed a rapper, same goes for Red Velvet, STAYC, Cherry Bullet, IVE etc…

That’s not to say people in these groups with the rap position aren’t needed. I just think all of them would be fine with regular vocal parts

In my opinion, most of the groups in the K-Pop industry don’t even need rappers to begin with. I just find it really unnecessary, and I think it would be better if the songs (around 99% of the songs in kpop) can only have just the singing in them and not at all the rapping, even if the rapping parts are little.

It’s definitely depends on the group, but overall I don’t think rappers are necessary for groups
A lot of really good/famous groups doesn’t have any rappers and I personally think they’re actually a lot better than the once with rappers.

depends on the grp/concept. does blackpink need a rapper? yes. but grp like apink, ive, stayc, and gfriend all got by without a need for rappers/strong rappers.

Depends on the group and song, I feel like certain songs wouldn't be complete if it didn't have a rap but some really don't need it at all, like most Twice songs

I don't think concept dictate whether a group needs a rapper. Cute concept groups can have rappers, for example. CLC had a cute concept for their debut and Yeeun is still one of the best rappers in the industry, some of her cute concept raps were her best (ex. her verse in Pepe being her best rap til this day). Also some of Chaeyoung raps were best when TWICE did cuter songs

some of Chaeyoung raps were best when TWICE did cuter songs. In the more mature concepts she gets these really goofy sounding lyrics but in their cuter songs her raps always slay!

Also, Get Cool by Stray Kids, I don't listen to them often but this is in rotation for my favorite skz songs because of the raps (especially Han's and Hyunjin's, I love the chill//laid back verses.)

Exy in Happy by WJSN as well, cute concept but the rap SLAYED!

Me, personally yes. Idk, I feel like its the genre of Kpop, Singers and Rappers.

I feel like it depends on the song. A group can have a rapper position if they want, but just because a group has a member whose position is a rapper doesn't mean every single song they release needs a rap in it.
But there are certainly groups who value their rappers (Blackpink, Aespa, Everglow, (G)I-DLE, etc.) and groups who don't need them (Apink, Gfriend, etc).
