I expected the show to be mid-below average as another more popular survival show (dream academy) was occuring around the same time as it but I actually enjoyed R U Next!

1. Some contestants were so underrated
There are quite a few contestants who consistently flew under the radar despite being talented. Three contestants i have in mind are Moa, Hyewon and Himena. Moa is a skilled rapper and a decent dancer, with fierce stage presence. Hyewon lead her team to victory TWICE winning both challenges she was leader in and has both stable vocals and energetic dance to top it off. Himena despite being so young is extremely talented and a mini all rounder but what is most astounding is how her vocals are quite stable despite being hyped by her dance and rap. These three did not make the final lineup, but unlike most contestants they weren't talked about as much after their elimination (e.g. Chanelle & Jihyun). Other contestants were Funa, Seoyeon, and Yewon.

2. The top6 should've debuted, not 2 fan picks and 4 label picks
In my perspective it kind of isn't fair that Jeemin and Jeongeun originally were originally voted into the group at P4 and P6 respectively. However, Yunah and Moka were chosen by the label and Jeemin and Jeongeun were eliminated. Both of them were talented and deserved the places they won. However, Yunah and Moka are of course deserving of their roles in the group.

(Top6 originally Wonhee-Youngseo-Minju-Jeemin-Iroha-Jeongeun)

3. Ena should've been eliminated sooner
I already know she was eliminated early, but when people say she has good vocal capabilities I just don't see their point. I find that her larynx starts tense up, and she produces airy sounds when reaching the upper register. To say she is as good as someone like Wonhee is not an accurate comparison. She is extremely young, so her vocals will begin to develop and she will improve.

4. There was an underwhelming amount of global trainees
It seems to be a new trend to debut non-korean trainees, especially since HYBE (BE:LIFT's parent label) has debuted various groups with international members. However, R U Next had 6 Japanese trainees (Funa, Moka, Ruka, Yuisa, Himena, Ena), 2 Thai trainees (Moa, Iris) and 1 Korean-American (Chanelle, Haseul doesn't count because her nationality is American-Korean while her ethnic group is Korean), a grand total of 9 international contestants. There were 13 Korean contestants. I feel like this also is only because of the lack of trainees selected to compete in R U Next but I thought there would be some sort of Chinese or South-East Asian representation.

5. Wonhee deserved her place
Wonhee has received criticism for being the "only member of ILL'IT to not deserve her spot in the group. Remember, she got 1st place in the rankings overall. I don't care if she got it because of her visuals, she is popular and did bring attention and popularity to not only the survival show but the group. She also has stable vocals, and was one of the standout vocalists on the show. Her facial expressions and dance skills are improving fast (I feel like everyone in ILL'IT has improved in dance drastically except for Iroha since she was already skilled).

6. It was pretty clear some contestants survived because of their skills
A contestant who is a perfect symbol of this is Himena. Himena was consistently praised by the coaches/judges for her skills, given 1st place in various group ranking missions and was originally placed in High Level. Due to her audition tape not being released, she was not able to grow her fanbase. She always received near last-last place in terms of voting so it was pretty clear that she wasn't going to get voted into the group. I was shocked that she ranked higher than some of the other contestants. Another example is Jiwoo. She was THE vocalist of the show. Often praised for her vocals capabilities, Jisoo won the hearts of fans. While she had a huge fanbase, other contestants were able to overtake her. I thought she was popular, but she received 9th place overall in the final votes.

7. The show was indeed rigged
It was pretty clear that Moa, Chanelle and Iris received evil edits which made them lose fans and votes while Yunah and Jiwoo received angel edits during their heart-to-heart. At least they eliminated a few of the minors at the start as they were not ready to debut. Jeemin and Jeongeun getting eliminated instead of staying in the group was uncalled for.

Anyways, let me know your opinions!
