Occasionally I watch a dance performance and a ballet move just sticks out so glaringly I find myself saying 'Holy Shit'.
Because this is kpop dance I never expected to legitimate ballet moves in a dance.
Here is a list of the ones I've discovered:
What is Love?-Twice
Cherry Bomb-NCT 127
Pas de Bourre
I discovered these two when I was learning the dances, it made it much easier to learn.
There are a ton of other dances that use this move.
Horizon-Ateez
Calypso
So I know this has a ballet term but I can only remember the Jazz/Contemporary term for this jump that San does.
When I saw the Horizon stage I flipped out because when he did the jump it was so technically proficient he looked like a male ballet dancer.
Black on Black-NCT 2018
Tour
That spinning jump Haechan and Johnny do in the back was done exactly how a male ballet dancer would, even the preparation for it is textbook.
I'll continue this thread a different day.
I love finding ballet in kpop.
