Nice to meet you, call me Ivy! I'm from the US and I've been into kpop for a long time, maybe 11 years or so? I've been in the periphery of Korean music since SHINee debuted, but the bowl cuts really were a turn off haha
What really got me into kpop was watching Super Junior-M on Happy Camp (like the first time they were on the show way back when), and I fell in love with their group dynamic and how endearing they really were.
I've never really interacted with the fan community at large, choosing to keep to myself instead, so while I know a lot about older kpop (2005-2015), I'm still new to a lot of things and fan culture especially. A lot of what I've seen from stan culture nowadays is absolutely bizarre to me lol
While I'm still the most familiar with SM groups, I was a multi for most of my fan career, jumping around between groups like Secret to LEDApple to T-ARA to SS501 and so on! My main favorites back in the day were still definitely Suju and SHINee though, and Jonghyun is probably my ultimate bias (sorry Donghae)
I lost interest in kpop for good around the time EXO started losing members (definitely a direct correlation lol) due to a lot of frustration with SM's inability to change their Sinophobic ways, but Seventeen and their absolutely lovely group dynamic made me fall back in love with kpop for a brief moment. I still feel kinda bad for not having the time to update myself on them now haha
Currently, I only really have the energy/motivation to wholeheartedly support NCT, although back when they debuted I really scoffed at their music (listen... wtf is jeremy open your eyes okay)
Counting up the number of groups I liked that have disbanded (23 ggs alone wtf) has been really disheartening but I'm looking forward to getting over that soon! Ask me anything
