I have had bones broken for me in surgery.
I was born with this birth defect that made my lower body turned in about 30 degrees more than normal.
I started having a lot of pain when moving. Popping and snapping in my hip sockets. I later learned that this was me tearing the cartilage in my hip socket due to improper placement of my femurs.
So I ended up having surgeries to correct the misalignment.
They essentially cut my femurs in half and twisted the top part into the correct position in my hip socket. Then metal rods were inserted in my femurs, and pins in my hip and knees to hold them in place.
Over a 6-9 month period of time my bone would grow around the metal rod. Then 1 year later I would have the rod and pins removed.
I did my right leg in 2019, had everything taken out of the right and my left leg done in 2020, and then everything taken out of my left leg in 2021.
It was not pleasant but I'm mostly fixed now.
