Groups with their own sound

So a lot of the time, groups and fans like to create this idea that their group has a completely unique sound that is special to only them and whatever, but no hate to the artists 90% of the time this just like isn’t the case lmao.

Imo, there’s only a few groups that have actually achieved this goal of having their own sound. A lot of people will insult these groups by saying “all their songs sound the same” but to me, this isn’t an insult, and is instead just their signature on Kpop.

The first group is GFRIEND. With the exceptions of maybe Mago and Fever, GFRIEND songs are so recognisable just seconds in, as being elegant and innocent and gentle. There was even a song that had a similar sound to GFRIEND’s music that when I first got into Kpop I always thought was a GFRIEND song coz it suited them PERFECTLY.

Next, is EXID. Idk their oldest music but like. I swear no group has ever pulled off EXID’s concept like they do. It’s so iconic and recognisable. No mistaking when you’re listening to one of their songs.

Third, I was debating adding this group, is Dreamcatcher. Now Dreamcatcher is a difficult one because not many groups in Kpop at all do the horror concept, so it’s hard to tell if it’s “unique to them” and “instantly recognisable” or that’s just because almost no one else is doing it. But since their music is a staple for kpop rock and horror, I chose to put them here.

Finally, the newest group on the list so who knows if they’ll stay here, we have IVE. Eleven could’ve easily just been a one off elegant concept song, but Love Dive has such a similar sound to it without it being an identical clone that it makes IVE fit into this. Many have done the elegant concept but none of the other songs in this concept sound anything alike the way IVE has been doing it. I really hope they continue with it because it’s so pretty.

As you can see, there are no bgs on my list as I’m not familiar with any, so if you know any who you think fit here lemme know. And if you think I missed a girl group, then again, add them in the comments with your reason!

I feel like IZ*ONE are really recognizable for their classy and at times cute style

i think red velvet has a pretty unique sound. i can tell within seconds if it's a red velvet song, even wo hearing their voices. (and she's technically not a grp, but) same for iu. even w iu songs i've not heard yet, i can tell it's her even before hearing her voice. they both have a v distinctive sound for sure, even tho red velvet has a lot of conflicting sounds w the whole red vs velvet concept

Might be an unpopular opinion but I'd like to add NCT to this list purely because recently I was using Pandora (which I normally never use) and a song came on that I had never heard before, but I could tell it was some NCT song simply because of Mark and Doyoung/Haechan's voices

agreed, their voices are rlly distinctive, and taeyong too

I would say it's hard to mistake Stray Kids for anyone else because of Changbin, Jeongin and Felix's voice.
