Theses numbers only include album chart who entered Gaon TOP 100 album of the year.
So it's pretty round since many album aren't counted.
It may be accurate for best sellers, but the cut to enter the chart is higher each year
2015: 13,220
2016: 21,278
2017: 32,864
2018: 45,402

In 2015, 45,402 would put you 55th not 100th so many many album are not counted !

At least we can see the improvement sell in few years.

People with more knowledge might confirm that Gaon may have changed their way to count album. I know there were changes but not sure if there were impacts here.
