I have a theory about BP's shutdown, I feel like they all knew that they would start focusing on their solo careers.
In the M/V Jennie closes the "Blackpink door" at the end and in their debut song Boombayah at the start Lisa opens the 'blackpink door"
Jennie sits on a tank in HYLT(?) and she sits on one in Shut down
Rose sit ontop of the 'world" in whistle and she does in Shutdown also.
Jisoo has an open umbrella with money falling around her and in another old M/V she has the same scene except it's fire and rain
Lisa is on a bridge rapping with pouring rain and in an old music video she's on the same bridge with fire around it
Jisoo takes her own photo, with black hair and with a huge one of her with pink hair in the background and in an old M/V she has pink hair with a picture of her with black hair in the background while everyone takes her photo
Rose is on a swing and she is in an old M/V also
Lisa is sitting on a pile of bags and speakers while rapping and she does the same in an old music video
In the end of shut down they have tons of fun and hug each other alot, in Boombayah they do the same yet it's at the start
Not to mention some of the last lyrics are
It's black and it's pink once the sun down

The lyrics "Its black and its pink once the sun down" could be interpreted to saying that blackpink is only together off-camera (once the sun down) or that blackpink is over all together (now the sun is down and BP is over)
"Shut it down, blackpink in your area" could mean that now that blackpink has been "in your area" (their world tour that happend) blackpink is shutdown (over) and in the next line where they say "woah woah woah woah' could basically be our (the fans/netizens) reaction to them being over ("woah woah woah woah what is happening?")
It's been 3 years since they've had a group song (unless you count The Girls) and Shut Down was the title track on their tracklist/album
though they will probably stay solo as in their entire career as BP of the 8/9 years they had only 32 songs but as soloists they've had 59 songs (19 Jennie, 6 Jisoo, 18 Lisa, and 16 Rose combined)
