Self explanitory!! I start off and you choose how the story continues. Be careful, though, all actions have consequences, and once you make a choice, you can't take it back.

You and your four friends gather around a campfire, soft clouds of breath catching in the air and falling, evidence to the chill running through your veins this evening. That always confused you about this town, how even on the hottest summer days, night felt so cold you could almost expect snow to start falling at any moment. Your friend, Elaine, giggles and grabs your arm with a cheerful smile despite the weather. She was a local, you muse to yourself, she was used to this.
"Y/n! Come grab s'more stuff with me! Jessie won't come, says she thinks there's somethin' weird 'bout the area near the tents. She's dumb ~." She says that last part loud enough for Jessie to hear, flipping off the girl, who merely grins in response. "So, whatcha say?"

"Ugh, but now is perfect! We're all cold n there's a fire running 'nd stuff, right? Whatever, you guys sucks. I'mma go get them myself." She shrugs, standing up off the seat you're both seated on. Her braided hair swings, glimmering a soft brown in the moonlight. You check your phone, the time reading "2:43 AM." And for some reason, that chills you. So close to 3 AM. But you chide yourself mentally for being so foolish. 3 AM means nothing, you repeat over and over like a silent mantra, holding onto that thought. Anxiety won't be running wild tonight, you're with friends after all!

"Psssssst, y/n!" James calls over to you. He's, obviously, Jessie's sister. You guys make fun of them and call them Team Rocket for shits 'n giggles. You move over closer to him so you can hear him over the hearty chatter coming from the others, subconciously sliding closer for warmth because is it just me or did it get way colder? You send him a questioning look in response, and he grins.

"You not even the least bit tired? You're always first to fall asleep at sleepovers, so I just thought maybe you had some Monster Energy-" James never got to finish his sentence as he was cut off by a blood-curdling scream.

"What the fresh hell was that?" Chanel is the first to speak, her eyes wide.

"It sounded kinda like Elaine..." You mumble with a frown, and Jessie jumps up.

"Oh my god what if she got, like, hit by a truck or something? We did put our cars over on the other side. Oh shit, if she was hit it's probably my fault for not going with her-" Everyone erupts into worried chatter, and it comes down to a simple question. Do we go and investigate?

You decide to head and investigate, and force James, who had volunteered to "stay and hold down the fort" to come with. You guys were a group of five people, and you stayed together closely, hugging Jessie close to you. It was obvious that she was scared, her lithe frame shaking. Chanel lead you all, her nose up high in an act of fake confidence that she always held. You look around at the others, making sure nobody managed to slip away. Jessie, James, Chanel, you, and a transfer student named Mina, who stayed in the back. James stood next to her, an arm around her shoulder, and you fleetingly smile. Everybody knew they liked each other, and it was adorable, but you blink to snap yourself out of your thoughts. You could mentally prepare your friend's wedding later, when Elaine wasn't in trouble.

You arrive at the clearing where the cars are parked, and all collectively breathe a sigh of relief. Elaine is there, a piece of chocolate in her mouth and wide eyes.

"You guys won't believe what I just saw. I swear to the Gods, I just saw some super handsome dude walk past James' truck and towards the woods over.... there." She points to the area in question. "And I mean he was like, handsome. Like those kpop dudes Jessie's always on about! He looked asian, too, I think???? Or maybe not, it was pretty dark and there was somethin' weird on the lower half of his face. But maybe there's other people camping out too! We should totes go and investigate, yeah?" Though everyone shut that down, Mina with a loud yawn thrown in, and you all decide that it's too late for that, but Elaine isn't having it.

"Guuuuuuuuys!! C'mon, let's just poke our noses in and see if there's actually a bunch of hotties sleeping in the woods too, please???" ( you choose!)

After a bit of persuasion, Elaine agrees to stay and go to bed. You all head back to the little lodge and part into your rooms. You all got lucky and get your own! But Jessie is still scared and rooms with you, and since she's smaller than you, you two share a bed. Jessie falls asleep as soon as her head hits the pillow, but you just... don't feel tired. You check your phone and your eyes widen. 3:00 AM. And it must be fate, because the minute you realize what time it is, a loud knock sounds on the front door. You're scared shitless, not knowing what to do. There's another knock, louder this time, and you can faintly hear what sounds like pleading. Your room is right above the entrance, so you move to look behind you, where a window is conveniently placed, and see... nothing. And then another knock comes, so loud you can almost trick yourself into thinking it's thunder. It wakes Jessie up, her eyes permanently stuck in a state of fear. "Y/n... what the hell is that? What's going on??" You don't answer, too busy staring at the window. This has to be a dream, right? You pinch yourself as another knock comes, and you fear the door may splinter from the force of it, and everything in you is screaming to investigate.

You cautiously get up, careful not to let the floorboards creak as you make your way downstairs, stopping in front of the door, which has calmed during the five minute breaks whatever is knocking seems to take, clear your throat, and force out the most non-wavering "Who's t-there?" Your voice catches and you silently curse yourself for it. The thing, whatever it may be, knocks one time, soft as can be, before your ears pick up on the sound of grass underneath large shoes. You tentatively open the door, and see... nothing. Out of the corner of your eye, you could've sworn you saw a figure retreating into the woods, but when you look in the direction of it, there is only an expanse of forest.

You quietly consider the idea that you're going mad. Nobody else woke up even though the knocking was so loud even the deepest of sleepers would have at least stirred. But then you remember Jessie. She had heard it too, the knocking. So what was going on? You would ask the others tomorrow, you decide as you climb the stairs back to your room, where Jessie is sleeping already, and join her, drifting off into an uneasy slumber.

--- The next morning, you're the last to wake up, as when you head down to the dining room the lodge supplies, everybody, even Jessie, is sitting down and enjoying toast and slightly burnt eggs, courtesy of Elaine, and your body untenses. You had been worried something would happen to them, but maybe it was just a horrible nightmare after all.

You take a seat next to James, who is animatedly conversing with Mina and Elaine, who holds a pan of a likely inedible omelette, from the looks of ir. You smile when they greet you, resting your head on the table. Last night, dream or not, was rather exhausting, and you felt like you could sleep the rest of the day away. But then it hits you. Should you tell them what happened last night?

Eagerly go with Elaine, sticking my tongue out at Jessie. Even if I don't particularly like s'mores, it's part of the camping experience, no?

You roll your eyes playfully at Elaine, joining her in teasing Jessie, and linking your arms with the other girl. You two were pretty close, believe it or not. Elaine had been with you since you moved to this weird little town with its freezing winters in your sophmore year of high school. The six of you were well into college now, of course, but the thought that you had stayed together so long made you smile the slightest bit.

The two of you reach your parked cars in no time, Elaine grabbing her keys and unlocking her Jeep (she was spoiled like that), rumaging through the back seat to find the ingredients you need for s'mores, when the back of your neck pricks. You sense eyes on you, watching. And it wasn't any normal, observant stare. You could feel blood lust emanating from it and the urge to turn and see who's there is overwhelming.

and so, whole body tense, you turn and see... nobody. Your chest heaves a sigh of relief as the feeling of eyes disappears, turning back to Elaine, who's giggling and holding up a huge bag of marshmallows, when an all too cliche noise of a branch breaking making your smile fall, both of you whipping your head in the direction of the noise to see... a man? You can make out a muscled build, and he's quite tall from the looks of it, maybe around 6'3? The bottom half of his face is covered by some sort of cloth, and you're tempted to move closer. Your cheeks flush when you realize he's not wearing a shirt. But the embarassment goes away when you take in the scars covering practically every inch of his exposed torso, jolting when you feel a hand on your arm. It's Elaine, and her eyes are wide.

"We should go back to the camp.." You nod, but still manage to look back to where the man was, only to find that he's gone. You grad Elaine's hand and head back to the others, a chill shooting down your spine at the odd interaction.

You jokingly berate Elaine for insulting Jessie, but go with her anyways. You're halfway to the cars when there's a noise, and your head turns on instinct. You raise an eyebrow when you find nothing there, but shrug it off as just the noises of the forest. You arrive at the cars, and while Elaine grabs things for s'mores, you decide to head over to your car because you forgot your phone's charger there. As you're unlocking it, you hear a rustling noise, but this time you think nothing of it, despite your body stilling for a moment. Probably just an animal, you reason as you slide into the car to fish around for the darned cord, and as soon as you pull your leg in, the door slams. And we're not talking just normal closing of a car door, no, the entire car shook from the force of the slam, so you couldn't just blame it on the slight gust. You open the door after having retrieved your charger with a quiet 'what the hell?' Okay. That was weird. You search for Elaine, ready to go back, when you realize that she's... gone. You instantly begin to panic because where did she go???, when you catch a glimpse of movement in your peripheral, and turn to see.. Elaine in the distance, back to you and following something.

When you mention how Jessie experienced it as well, she jumps in to confirm your story, and the others stare in fright.

"What kinda figure did you see last night, y/n?" You crinkle your brows in an attempt to think, and your eyes widen. You could've sworn the figure looked like a tall, muscular male, and you told the others just that. Elaine gasps, dropping her omlette on the floor, but nobody paid it any mention.

"This is seriously weird. We should investigate that dude I saw last night. I mean, what if he's part of this? Or at least experienced something similar?" Everybody hums in agreement, but you're not so sure.
