I mean, that's fair. When I get into songs, sometimes I get carried away too. Not racial slurs, but sometimes when I get too into them I start following the swears in the song (I'm not usually a person who swears). It's easy to get carried away in the moment, and I'm glad that she understood her mistake.

i'm white, so i don't think i get to have much of an opinion on this. but giselle has always been my bias, and she still is now. but, objectively speaking, she shouldn't have done that. that said, i don't think she had any ill intent. it's probably just a song she enjoys, and she got caught up in the moment. as @Kiyoshi said, it's easy to get carried away in a song and say things you wouldn't normally say. giselle is aware that she shouldn't say the n-word, as she changed the lyrics when she covered a verse from tia tamera. but in that situation, she would have practiced beforehand and had the time to change the lyrics. this was a spur of the moment, in the moment thing, and i'm sure she had no ill intent. that said, i'm glad she recognizes and realizes her mistake.

so!
i'm not a black person so i know i'm not in a good position to talk about this! but I would like to give my point of view. I have nothing against giselle, but, I am ... divided on this story. some say it was just lip syncing, others say she didn't pay attention, others say she was aware of what she was doing. honestly I think she said the word. I agree that she shouldn't have said it, but I'm not going to hate giselle for that. however, it chilled me, I won't see her the same way again, but I'm not going to hate her. but I agree that it is very insulting, and that if I were part of the black population, I would be hurt.

As someone who is black, let me voice my opinion on this.

Is the word my favorite word? Absolutely not. I've been called it before and it hurts. People throw it around mindlessly and I think that's a sad truth about our world today. Am I angry at Giselle, though? No. I think she could've handled the lyrics in a more appropriate way, but I don't think she deserves hate for it.
I'm honestly not taking it in a bitter, personal way. It wasn't direct towards anyone in particular, so I'm not offended.

Thanks for sharing your opinion.<3 As someone who's white, I can't speak on how others feel, but I do agree about people throwing it around, and I'm sorry that you've been called that word before. :(

hm I wasn't going to voice my opinion on this but I guess I will
As a black person, it really really hurts when someone in the Kpop community does something like this. Whether it's saying/mouthing the n-word or other forms of racism towards black people. And it hurts a lot because you know Kpop is something I want to enjoy without having to worry about if this group or this person has done anything to offend my race or my culture, or worrying about having to unstan somebody for this tyoe of behaviour. And most of the time let's be honest, the idols don't care and we never get apologies. We also never know if the idol is being sincere or not so it's a big 50 50 chance. I don't usually take the time to actually read the apologies but I did read Giselle's and it seemed pretty sincere. It's just the fact that I don't 100 percent know if it actually is sincere that's bothering me so I'm very stuck on whether to accept it or not :(

As a black person It's a pretty offensive word as most people know
And it really hurts when a kpop idols does this because I'm a kpop fan and tired when I see things like this or idols making fun of things related to my race or culture, and it's not the first time things like this happen and we are in 2021 she's not a child and I know they know better. And tbh most times it's like some don't care, saying or mouthing the n-word will always be racist towards black people and they will be offended no matter who it's from. And not knowing if the apology was real if it was sincere is what's bothering me. I am in no way throwing hate at her, I still Stan aespa just don't know how I really feel right now. She recognized her mistake and apologise so that's great

I've seen where some people or fans said whatever they want but if they have never had people yelling racial slurs at them or making fun of their race or culture they won't understand.. I've been called that word many times and Everytime it cuts deeper

NOTE: IF you don't like my opinion kindly move along and don't reply thank you :)

I had never thought of it that way. Sorry, let me be more specific- I had never taken the time to think about whether their apologies were true or not. They're celebrities, so it's possible that they apologise just to save their image. It's something that I will take the time to think about now. I am not black, and I have never been called this, but as a gay and trans person there are similar words hurtful word that I have been called, so I can sympathize with you in a way. I hope Giselle doesn't do this again.

okay idk if this makes sense i am hAlf asleep but
i can't really say much because i'm white but i can see both sides of the story. sure, giselle got way caught up with singing a song she enjoys and said something she really shouldn't have said, and that's understandable, but i can also get why people are upset with her because 1. it's a word that was and is used to put black people down, and she's the most fluent in english in aespa, and she memorized it, plus the performance where she was performing a song by doja cat and replaced the n word. she shouldn't have mouthed it, but i really hope she tries harder, because while an apology is one thing, her actions following it will really show if she meant it or not. and this goes to show that sm artists can apologize, so if your fav hasn't apologized for saying something racist or flat out ignorant, then i don't think you're ever going to get an apology, sadly (i'm looking at you, hendery, caught in 4k bitchass) because they just simply don't want to.

** oh and to add onto this, we shouldn't attack people that don't accept her apology! that's their decision, if they were hurt then they have every right not to say "oh, that's fine i don't care"
but anyways yEah
